Hi, I’m Suzi.

I was born in a fundamentalist cult church connected to The Shepherding Movement. I am writing this blog because I have now spent half of my life recovering from church and spiritual abuse.
The psychological, physical and emotional abuse and control I endured still haunt me. I have been diagnosed with Chronic PTSD, but have found great solace in talking to others and have found that even though I was in a rare situation I have much in common with other survivors. I find that abuse is cyclical and the focus of my little corner of the web is to stop the shame induced silence that allows so many types of abuse to continue and thrive.
So, that is my focus. Many of my posts are going to be about my past, my abuse, how I cope (good and bad) but also about who I am and how I get along in the world. Thanks for stopping by, I think you’re swell.
Peace.

ps. I have a new focus as well. I love to write and I am enjoying the creative expression that it allows me.

Hi Suzi
i stumbled on to your site while doing some research on Dance of the Dissident Daughter…a favorite read of mine.
I wanted to let you know how much I applaud your courage is getting a voice out there for yourself and others who have experienced religious abuse. It is so important and I could not let an opportunity to encourage you go by.
I also wanted to pass on a book suggestion to you, a dear sister-friend of mine wrote, that may be of interest to you…I wrote a review on it here:http://loveandlight-cat.blogspot.ca/2012/02/quivering-daughters-by-hillary-mc.html
maybe you have heard of it…maybe not, check it out. Hillary does have a web page as well, where you can feel free to connect with her.
Thank you again for your bravery..walk lightly and free
You are Loved

Thank you so much for the sweet words and encouragement. They honestly couldn’t have come at a better time.
